about me

I grew up on the edge of the North York Moors, before moving to Birmingham where I graduated from Aston University with a First Class Honours Computing Science degree, and the University Prize for Computing Science.

I'm now working as a software developer for Majestic - the largest commercial Link Intelligence database in the world.

My previous experience includes participating in projects for internal and external clients through the Aston Student Company, and co-founding the Aston Computer Science Society. I have also volunteered with St John Ambulance as a first aider and unit webmaster, and was an active member of Team Brophy raising money for LLR.

In my free time I keep myself busy with random little projects. I also enjoy photography, video production and eating pizza.

For my university final year project, I continued a project developed for Aston Villa F.C. to store and display player lower limb data.

The final software allowed a variety of different sources of data to be uploaded, which would then be synchronised (plotted against a single time axis) and displayed as a single 'session'. It also included tools to easily track down previous sessions for a player, or sessions matching a number of criteria (such as a particular injury).

Back in my first year of university, my flat-mate decided to swim the channel for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. With no idea he was going to actually go through with it, I offered to sort out all the technical stuff, and help him along the way.

Now he has managed to complete his swim, which you can read all about on the blog, and is planning more challenges for the future!
